LAFAYETTE, CO - Confluence Small Business Collective member organization, The Empowerment Center of East County, was recently awarded $9,100 in donations by members of Guys Who Give - Boulder County.
The Empowerment Center, known to its participants as (EC)2, offers services, programming, and mentorship opportunities to Lafayette youth. Their mission is to cultivate the inherent capacities of young people and their families to create positive social change in themselves and their home communities through the arts, community-based learning, and leadership opportunities.
Guys Who Give is a group of men who meet quarterly to nominate and select a Boulder County organization to receive direct donations from its members. Organized by founding member Justin Livingston, the Guys Who Give website describes itself as a dynamic and inspired group of local men who are interested in making a meaningful impact right here in our local communities.
About this quarter’s recipient, Livingston commented, “The work they do is so important and targeting the children and youth of our community not only provides resources to our most vulnerable young neighbors but helps shape these amazing humans become contributing members of our community. I’m humbled that Guys Who Give continues to grow and flood the local nonprofit community with funds to continue to do amazing work and I'm excited to see what good comes from giving (EC)2 a few more resources to boost their impactive services.”
Elaina Verveer, Executive Director of The Empowerment Center, talked about the positive boost from these donations to the organization. “As a Lafayette-based, youth leadership nonprofit, (EC)2 often relies on the kindness of the local community. We are so grateful to Guys Who Give - Boulder County not only for their incredible donation, which will ensure Lafayette youth continue to have access to quality programming, but also for their involvement in the greater community.”
Through its Facebook page on March 1st, Confluence Founder and Director of Operations Tom Hardie said, “The Empowerment Center of East County is a valuable member of our community and our extended team. Today they were awarded over $9,000 by Guys Who Give - Boulder County to support the important programming they facilitate for youth in Lafayette. Congratulations!”
Representatives of The Empowerment Center will attend the next Guys Who Give meeting at Gravity Brewing in Louisville on May 10th to talk about the organization and the impact of the donations.
